Trees Planted

by Pittsburgh Canopy Alliance Partners since 2020

Allegheny County is losing 2% of its tree canopy every five years.

      • Tree canopy is the leaves and branches of trees that blanket our hillsides and dot our streets.
      • Trees provide numerous human health, environmental, and economic benefits.
      • Everyone deserves access to urban tree canopy, but that’s not currently the case in Allegheny County.
      • A decrease in tree canopy means a decrease in benefits for everyone in our region, but specifically for residents of communities experiencing the greatest canopy loss.

What we’re doing about it: A group of more than 20 nonprofit organizations and government agencies formed the Pittsburgh Canopy Alliance.

The Pittsburgh Canopy Alliance works together to research, prioritize, and develop shared goals to increase urban tree canopy with a focus on equity.
